French Dining Tables, Luxury and Design from Chi Chi
Eating around a French dining table is the perfect setting for a meal, whether it’s a family get together, a dinner party amongst friends, or a romantic dinner for two. Our superb collection of French style dining tables will add that inimitable touch of glitz and glamour at lunch and dinner.
All with a French touch, we have dining tables in a variety of shapes and sizes. We recommend a round table for smaller spaces, for example in the bay of a window or to create a focal point in a square-shaped room. Our round pedestal tables are particularly popular, because you are not restricted on where the dining chairs can fit in around the table, as you are with one that has legs on the outside edge of the table.
If you entertain regularly with larger numbers, a rectangular table might be best for you. The rectangular shaped French style dining tables we stock come in a range of dimensions to comfortably seat four to 10 dinner guests. They are also the best choice when pushed against a wall to be used for buffets.
Many of our clients are very keen on the rustic style French dining tables that were traditionally the focal point of any French farmhouse. Bringing French country living into the modern home, the rustic style has been updated by our artisan craftsmen. The traditional solid wood table top remains, as do the typically French curvy aprons to the dining tables, but with lovely soft paints to bring the whole ensemble up to date.
If you feel your home is too modern for a rustic French dining table, how about a designer dining table fit for a king? And not just any royal family, we’re talking tables heavily influenced by the Louis XV and Louis XVI periods in French history. The last bastion of royalty before the revolution, the monarchy may not have survived, but the distinctive style of furniture certainly has.
Again the emphasis on these designs of dining table is curvy. Many of the rectangular tables we offer boast cabriole legs with their tantalizingly shapely form that is sure to catch the eye. The design of the dining table is such that you can fit all the chairs you need around the table, as the legs are on each corner, with enough space for a person to be seated on each end too.
The apron area (underneath the outside edge of the table) is also highly decorative, with a wonderful carved form. Match a designer dining table like this with our high-backed, fully upholstered dining chairs and you’ve got a fantastic ensemble for eating.
Another popular style for luxury dining tables related to the Louis XV and XVI periods is the Dauphin look. Most of us associate this elegant and deluxe style of dining table with the sort of pieces you might see in French Chateaux, or even the Palais de Versailles in Paris, but the composition originally refers to the furnishings in the royal residences of the direct heir (or heiress) to the French throne, who were known as the Dauphins (or Dauphines).
Our luxury Dauphin style dining tables and chairs have that same French feel, but all are handmade in quality hardwoods with composite wood features to the highest modern standards of furniture production. Colours range from a reflective gold finish, to the polished black and all look simply magnificent when the table is laid for a dinner party!
